They are not glamourous and are often taken for granted. At the same time, they do have a repution for being not particularly flexible and require significant effort in configuration.
We believe that current semantic web technologies are well suited to the finance domain, offering flexibility and enhanced functionality compared to traditional relational database driven systems.
Opportunities for enhanced cross-departmental and extra-organisational communication are also facilitated in the semantic paradigm.
Our prototype finance system is entirely based on semantic technologies, built on a Java platform and using the robust Jena toolkit.
Messaging
Minnits.com is a project of Immagini Labs which was to satisfy our own internal requirement for a simple to use ubiquitous messaging platform with latent semantic capability.
After proving itself in our day to day business as a serious contributor to personal productivity, Minnits.com has graduated to its own website. At the current time it is in private beta.
